FAQ

Cytology should be done after menstruation (after spotting period) up to a 10-12 cycle. Cytological examination should be performed from the age of 25 or up to 3 years after commencement of the sexual intercourse.
There are three test that are important during the pregnancy:
◦ 1st trimester (between 11 and 13 weeks): genetic defect risk assessment
◦ II trimester (between 18 and 22 weeks): foetal anatomy assessment
◦ III trimester (between 30 and 32 weeks): re-evaluation of the heart and other organs
Cardiotocography (CTG) is a technical means of recording the foetal heartbeat and the uterine contractions during pregnancy. The machine used to perform the monitoring is called a cardiotocograph, more commonly known as an electronic foetal monitor (EFM). This examination should be done after 39 weeks of pregnancy and during pregnancy.
Pregnancy after the childbirth, i.e. after the end of the 40th week of pregnancy, requires more careful supervision, mainly because of possible placental insufficiency. A pregnant woman should pay special attention to foetal motor activity, CTG and foetal vascular flows should be performed. Pregnancy must end by the end of week 42 at the latest. In practice, it is recommended to report to the hospital no later than 7 days after planned delivery.
Cytological examination is used for early detection of cervical precancerous conditions. Most cases of cervical cancer are associated with persistent HPV infection - it is worth determining its presence. We can also do colposcopic examination.
A colposcopy is a type of cervical cancer test. It lets your doctor or nurse get a close-up look at your cervix — the opening to your uterus. It’s used to find abnormal cells in your cervix. At our centre, we complement the colposcopic examination with a cervical resistance test (ZedScan device) which increases the precision of the biopsy taken.
A hysteroscopy is a common procedure that allows the doctor to visualize the uterine canal and uterus with an endoscope. It is often used to diagnose and treat abnormal uterine bleeding. During the procedure the doctor inspects the pelvic area for any abnormal changes. A D&C (Dilation & Curettage) may or may not be performed at this time. A D&C is performed by introducing dilators through the vagina into the cervical canal and scraping of the uterus with a curette to remove substances, including blood.
We perform hysteroscopy:
◦ as one of the elements of infertility diagnostics
◦ in the case of abnormal uterine bleeding, suspected polyps, fibroids
◦ for postmenopausal bleeding
The test is performed after menstruation, 3 days earlier you should refrain from any vaginal drugs, vaginal irrigation and intercourse. You should avoid taking blood thinners (e.g. Aspirin, Acard) 5-7 before testing.
We perform the examination after menstruation, preferably until the 10-11 day of the cycle, it is good to treat the vagina 5-7 days before the examination.
